| Welcome to the Lafayette Art Association Member Spotlight. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| LAA members Pat Bourque and Trish Ransom are in the spotlight! | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Pat Bourque, artist and instructor, has been painting for over 25 years. Her medium of choice is "oil" in the traditional style of the Old Masters.
The Flemish method and the Venetian grisaille are her favorite methods. Well known examples are Titian, Ingre', Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt and Vermeer. The roots of this style go back to the Renaissance where the opaque underpainting was enhanced by transparent glazes applied in multiple layers. Pat is a native of Lafayette and has been an LAA member for over 20 years. |

| Trish Ransom, a California native, resettled in Grand Coteau, LA, after discovering a love of Louisiana culture. Debris Jewelry and Trish Fish are examples of how this Creole-at-Heart found her home.
Trish's artwork is steeped in the past, renewing the old and regenerating interest in something once ignored and discarded. In much the same way, French settlers created a stew called debris, using portions often discarded after the boucherie. In using found objects such as old bottle caps, rusted washers, colorful old telephone wire and broken glass, Trish creates a unique and thought provoking collection of artwork. |
