CALL FOR ENTRIES

MAY 1 - 23, 2008

  • "Kids Are Artists, Too!" began 21 years ago as a desire to give Acadiana youth a place to exhibit original artwork in a gallery setting! This competition is open to all youth from pre-kindergarten thru the 8th grade.
  • Original artwork in 2 & 3 dimension is accepted including: drawing, painting, sculpture, etching, photography, weaving, and textile arts. Each artist may enter 3 original pieces of artwork--the artwork DOESN'T need to be framed.
  • The Lafayette Art Association has been sponsoring this exciting venture featuring "budding artists" as a special feature exhibit.
  • An awards reception ends the exhibit on Friday, May 23, 2008 beginning at 5:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. allowing artists to take their ribbons, certificates, local merchant coupons and artwork home with them for the summer. This annual competition includes judge's awards in each of the 5 divisions with an overall "Best of Show".
  • Submit dates & times:
    April 14, 2008 - April 25, 2008 from Noon to 5 p.m. or by appointment. (337) 269-0363

The Lafayette Art Gallery is located at 412 Travis Street in the Oil Center (corner of Harding and Travis streets).

The Lafayette Art Association provides area youth this visibility at NO EXPENSE to the participants or their parents (sponsors). This is a win-win opportunity for our Acadiana youth. We hope that you will enter your "budding artist" in this annual exhibit.
